Master Size Open Salts
also known as; Salt Dips, Salt Cellars, Salters, Trenchers, Trencher Salts, Celery Dips and just plain old "Salts", We use the term "Open Salts" to differentiate them from the also collectible Salt Shakers sometimes called "Salts".
There are many thousand salts out there to choose from. The first recorded salt was made around the 1st century AD. Salts have been made from China, Clay, Pottery, Silver, Stone, Bone, Wood, Brass, Glass, Gold and many other materials. Collecting "Open Salts" has become so popular that there are many open salt collectors clubs in the United States.

Description Here is a nice modern master salt made by the Fostoria Glass company for avon. This is a reproduction of an early Lacy period salt and it is in perfect condition. Marked AVON on the bottom.

Description Here is a nice circa 1860 master salt made by Bakewell, Pears & Co. and known as Imperial. It is in good condition with the normal wear found around the edges of these early salts.
